Photography and motorsports were two passions that grew in tandem throughout Julie’s life. Julie fell in love with motorcycles at a young age as she was part of a proud family of racers: her dad, a motorcross racer, won several French Enduro championships, while her mum and her aunt established themselves in the worlds of motocross, side car cross and super bikes.

Photography is, for me, the most beautiful way to capture a moment, an emotion or an action, unique in its essence and beauty.

Capturing subjects in movement is a task that requires gear that is manageable and that can be moved around with ease. This is especially true when it comes to shooting high-speed motorists.

The sturdy bodies of cameras such as the Nikon Z 9, or weather-sealed lenses such as the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8, mean I don’t need to worry about them getting bumped and dirtied in the heat of the moment.

I also carry with me lenses such as the Fisheye-NIKKOR 10.5mm or the NIKKOR Z 14-24mm f/2.8 for when I want to capture wider angle shots, to really showcase the breadth of some of the terrains and locations the riders are competing in.

Finally, a reliable flash such as the SB-5000 is an essential in the kit bag of any reputable motorsports’ photographer, as you must not only be prepared to endure weather of all kinds, but also expect to shoot races that take place both at night and day.
